Roberto Paternostro

Viennese-born conductor Roberto Paternostro, of Venetian descent, was a student of Hans Swarowsky, György Ligeti and Christoph von Dohnányi, and later assisted the late Herbert von Karajan in Berlin.
His first international appearance with the “Opera for Africa” gala at the Arena di Verona, and was subsequently invited to conduct at pre-eminent theatres such as Barcelona, Madrid, Venice, Genoa, Verona, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Budapest, Vienna, Munich and Dresden.

He had been General Music Director of the Wurttemberg Philharmonic orchestra  1991-2000, since 1997, Roberto Paternostro has held the post of General Music Director of the Staatstheater Kassel.
Additional engagements followed in Munich, Vienna, Saarbrücken and Norway, an invitation to the Bruckner Festival in Linz, his MDR Symphony Orchestra debut at the Shanghai Festival. Mr. Paternostro made other notable debuts Hannover, Bamberg, Cologne, Stuttgart, Tokyo, Hannover, Leipzig, Berlin, Wien, Israel, Linz, Toronto, Palermo ,Budapest, Tel Aviv und Jerusalem etc.

In January 2009 Conductor Roberto Paternostro has been appointed musical adviser to the Israel Chamber Orchestra.
